Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Foam Ban

Anne Arundel County Executive Schuh vetoes the proposed bill banning foam food packaging after council passes it 4-3. Annapolis still has support from Mayor Gavin Buckley and most of the city council but the bill remains pending due to Schuh’s veto, as the county health department handles Annapolis’s enforcement. The county did approve funding for an EPS densifier which, as Trash Free Maryland points out, is not a viable solution for post-consumer food foam. However, the densifier may prove advantageous in removing EPS packing material from the waste stream – a mom can dream!
